Video For Class

This video may not look like much to the untrained eye, buuuut.... it is an artisic stroke of genius. I got the idea as i was walking and looking down trying to think of something to do. I noticed that the variation between the sidewalk and street translated very well onto my cell phone screen, i then began to capture the most captivating 15 seconds thus far seen on earth.

Viruses

Aggghh Viruses, the Personal Computers ultimate fault and foe. Who creates these viruses? Hackers? The Government? who knows, i dont, but i do care. I've used PC's for some time now and ive had a major virus on each one. Each time ive had to reformat the whole computer, im neurotic so when i get a virus even when its cleaned i still feel like my computer is running slow. Anyway virus are good for cleaning up a messy over used and over stored pc. Viruses thou have always amused me becuase i like to think about the genius behind the script. I think to myself you have to be soo smart to write a virus that it makes me feel inferior, but then i think to myself they have proabably dedicated tons of there time to there virus and if i did the same id make a better one.

Picasa

Picasa was super fun and easy to use. It reminded me a lot of photobucket, which im accustomed to using on a monthly basis. I used pictures from my cellphone that I uploaded on to the computer im sitting at right nows hard drive. i love that it incorporates so well into my blog, so i can display my pictures in a cool slow moving slideshow. this program is really awesome for use with blogger, its absolutly great. I cant wait until my new computer comes so i can work with this program at home.

Twitter

Twitter, the new mass texting sensation. I've fallen victim to the twitter hype but like most others did not stay on the bandwagon. To me twitter seemed to be too laborious, having to sign on and update your status, and look thru 100's of other people posts is too much. The only positive for me is that you can watch celebrities tweet if you’re a follower, but as fun as that sounds it’s not enough to keep me involved. Celebrity twits were the way I found out about twitter. A shoe forum on the web I frequent released the twitter name of the likes of kanye west, pharrel, and jay z, when I checked out what it was all about I happened upon twitter. If I was more important I might tweet more but, right now just the lonely couple friends having self of mine I can keep everyone updated by using my MySpace or facebook. Twitter thou does interest me in the fact that it is a new direction in communicating, and I can’t wait to see what in store next.

What to learn in the Windows Lab!

What would I like to learn in the windows lab? First off I'm excited to use windows in class, Macintosh just feels too cumbersome for me, and I absolutely hate the mouse. Until I buy one for the home and use it everyday I like sticking to windows machines. I wish we had transitioned into the Windows lab this week so I might have been a little more motivated about the mid-term. This class was going so well for me until today, I was absolutely unprepared to write 700 words on a subject as interesting to me as a long drawn out opera in a redneck town. Anyway, the rest of this class should be easy for me, I missed a class, which set me back, but hopefully I can catch up to that 75% total I can earn by the end of the quarter.
What else would I like to cover in class? I cant really think of subjects that the book wouldn’t cover that we could go into more detail about in class but I would like to learn about web page design. I missed the garage band assignment and that sounded fun maybe some more musical themed class assignments would get me riled up. I just hate free writing to strict guidelines that are not of my choosing. If the assignment was write about whatever you want as long as you have tables and graphs I would be ecstatic.

Challenges

The most challenging part of the course so far has got to be the Mid-Term. One look at that incomprehensible set of instructions and i was absolutely overwhelmed. 700 words on "What is the Octet" I cant even write a 300 word bio on myself. It is now 2 hours into class and i only have a word art heading on the page and that only 10% of the assignment. But I've decided to not complete the assignment to spec. i have chosen this path because i have no prior knowledge of the subject and my web research is getting me know where near a 700 word account of the subject. this stunt as it may be called will be costly but i am aware of the repercussions and fine with a C or D, i just want to pass.

Garage Band

With garage bands ability to control a whole orchestra, I would love to be able to create an organ concerto. I’ve always thought the organ had a very cool sound. I think it would be really neat to control an organ with just a keyboard. I would love to be able to create a whole concert centered on the organ, maybe have dueling pianos in the background, and create the ultimate concert.

I’ve never used Garage Band but I have experience with other audio editing software such as Pro Tools, Fruity Loops, and Reason. Garage Band seems more centered around live recording and live instrument manipulation. Reason and Fruity Loops are more loop-based programs for tempo and melodies that are already created and need to be edited. From what I’ve seen of garage band from the iLife tutorial video it seems quite simple and effective for live audio manipulation. I would love to get a hold of an M Audio keyboard to control the program and make it easier to lay down melodies. I have yet to use Garage Band but from what I’ve seen it looks to be professional program

The Scary WWW

The thing that scares me the most about the World Wide Web is the amount of negative media I’m exposed too. Anywhere from snuff films to hardcore pornography, the Internet is full of sin. All you need is a little time and maybe a small amount of money for web space and you can broadcast anything you want without restrictions, with the exception of copyrighted material. And with the anonymous factor of the Internet it invites all kinds of people up to no good. Even MySpace isn’t safe when pedophiles are logging on, creating accounts, and preying on young children sexually. MySpace even advertises for some of these shady sites where these Internet predators are waiting and lurking, looking for an opportunity to stimulate the sociopathic tendencies.

Being an older brother to a 15-year-old sister is much tougher now that the Internet is such a solid staple in the American home. She is just as able and capable of finding everything the Internet has to offer and corrupting her young impressionable mind. We also don’t know the developmental effects of such visual sin on these young minds that come across this material during the most impressionable stages of their developing mind. Desensitization is my main concern because is seems like viewing such material would make it less of a impacting experience. Things people would usually never experience are all available thru the Internet Murder, Rape, Suicide, Pornography, And Gambling are just a few of the evils that lurk beneath the surface of the Internet.
